Hite Scholarships assist 57 technicians at UPMC

Through the generous donations of Jane and Lee Hite, and the partnership and organization efforts of the UPMC Altoona Foundation, 57 UPMC Altoona patient care technicians received $1,000 scholarships to help with their pursuit of health profession studies.

“Scholarships like this ease the pressures of pursuing additional medical education while employed,” said Jan Fisher, president, UPMC Altoona and UPMC Bedford.

“UPMC Altoona is very grateful to the Hites for their recognition of this need, and generosity in helping to fulfill it.”

The Jane and Lee Hite Scholarships provide financial assistance to students pursuing further education in the medical fiend. The scholarship is a one-time $1,000 payment, awarded with no employment commitment and is not based on financial need.

Lee Hite served as a trustee of UPMC Altoona for more than 20 years and has commented on the need to support local people’s efforts to further their education, and hopefully pursue a career in the area.
