Sept. 11, 1970

The Blair County Tourist and Convention Bureau, Duane Bordell vice-president, was to welcome the High Iron Co. Inc. steam excursion train to the Penn Central Railroad station in downtown Altoona on Sept. 12. It was to book rides for local residents for two days and the Altoona Fire Department would supply the locomotive with water.

25 YEARS AGO:

Sept. 11, 1995

Altoona Enterprises, the Altoona-Blair County Chamber of Commerce and Greater Altoona Economic Development Corp. voted to form a new group called the Altoona-Blair County Development Corp. pending approval by Altoona City Council, Raphael J. Voltz II mayor.

10 YEARS AGO:

Sept. 11, 2010

The Blair County Adult Parole and Probation Department, Tom Shea director, had a program called “Breaking Barriers” to help clients on probation realize that they can change, using videos, workbooks and discussion groups to focus on “stress points.”
