NPC donates laptops to Claysburg Education Foundation
CLAYSBURG — The Claysburg Education Foundation recently announced that NPC Inc. donated 140 laptop computers to support local education.
The devices were given to the Claysburg-Kimmel School District to accommodate additional student needs required for online learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, the laptops will replace faculty computers and help facilitate two classroom projects.
The computers are valued at more than $100,000.
Claysburg-based NPC, the foundation and the Claysburg-Kimmel School District have a unique four-year partnership that provides students with an enhanced educational experience and preparedness for life after high school.
This partnership provides students with a real-world business perspective and skill development by combining innovative technology, instruction, and mentoring through interaction amongst students, teachers, administration, NPC, and the Claysburg community.
The foundation, Claysburg-Kimmel School District and local businesses have continuously partnered in mentoring and training students as part of a co-op program.
For the past several years, NPC has supported the Claysburg-Kimmel Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) by educating students in financial literacy, leadership development and career exploration to prepare those interested in business careers.
Many students have held part-time positions at NPC. The work experience gained through this part-time relationship has built a foundation for future employment opportunities with NPC following graduation.
The results have been very satisfying for students and the business. The relationship between Claysburg-Kimmel FBLA and NPC has become so significant that the Chapter has consecutively nominated the company and its leadership for playing a vital role in the development of young leaders.
In 2019, NPC was named PA Future Business Leaders of America Business Partnership of the Year, followed by the 2020 nomination of Sherri Steward, NPC’s director of human resources, for PA FBLA Businessperson of the Year.
Steward was not only recognized as the PA FBLA Business Person of the Year but also named Businessperson of the Year at the national level.
NPC’s support of education in the Claysburg area takes many forms.
From valuable student support and input to mentorships and significant financial contributions, the Barnhart family and the entire NPC organization has positively impacted the students, the district, foundation and community.
The foundation, CKSD and NPC personnel also meet regularly to provide input and feedback on success stories and discuss future needs.
The foundation and district are genuinely appreciative and grateful for the financial support, time and input given by NPC and the Barnhart family further to improve education in the Claysburg area.
