Donations around the area

Courtesy photos On Jan. 30, the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department accepted a $15,000 grant from Energy Transfer through its First Responder Fund, which will aid in the purchase of two reels of hydraulic fire hose to be mounted to a new rescue truck. Shown are (from left): Corey Ehrhart, trustee; Mark Sloan, treasurer; Fire Chief Barry Emerson; Robin Tilly, Energy Transfer senior specialist for public affairs; and Dave Urish, Mariner East pipeliner. “This grant will allow our department to replace a 24-year-old rescue truck that no longer meets our needs,” said Stephen Yarina, president of Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department No. 1. “These new hoses will provide hydraulic fluid to power the rescue tools we would need to free trapped or injured people from vehicle or industrial accidents.”
Kelly Wike (right), State Farm agent in Tyrone, donated $500 to the Tyrone Hospital Foundation through the State Farm Companies Foundation Good Neighbor Grant Program. Wike is pictured in the main lobby at Tyrone Hospital with Anna Marie Anna, acting CEO at Tyrone Hospital. They are seated in the type of chair that Wike donated to the hospital through the State Farm Companies Foundation Good Neighbor Grant program to be donated in their local community for COVID-19. The chair was part of a set of new furniture the hospital purchased for its lobby area. The new furniture, including the chair donated by Wike and State Farm, is made of a material that can easily be sanitized and disinfected. This supports Tyrone Hospital’s ongoing mitigation efforts to prevent the spread of disease including COVID-19.
