U.S. Army Col. Mark R. Taylor graduated from the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle with a master’s degree in Strategic Studies on July 24.

A native of Altoona, Taylor graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., in 1997 and was commissioned as an aviation officer in the U.S. Army.

He served in numerous command and staff positions over his 23 years of service and will assume duties as the program manager for Army Defense Cyber Operations on July 30 at Fort Belvoir, Va.

The U.S. Army War College’s two-year distance education curriculum educates and develops senior military officers from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, as well as senior foreign military officers and civilian officials from a variety of federal agencies, to serve in strategic level command and staff positions worldwide.

Col. Taylor resides in Alexandria, Va., with his wife, Meredith, and his three children: Carter (10), Carolyn (2) and Catherine (3 months).
