Patton Garden Club installs officers
PATTON — The Patton Garden Club installed its new officers for the 2020-22 term at its first meeting of the year.
They are: Mary Lou Colussy, president; Donna Krise, vice president; Mona Weakland, treasurer; Jeannine Cymbor, recording secretary; and Mary Frances Zadzilko, corresponding secretary.
The club has had to make adjustments to its programs and schedule this year due to the coronavirus.
The yearly plant sale that is normally held the first Saturday in June was canceled. This is the club’s fundraiser from which scholarships are given to graduating seniors.
As a result, only one scholarship was awarded this year, and it went to Jordan Delattre. She is a graduate of Cambria Heights High School, Patton, and will be attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania majoring in biology.
Although the Adopt a Highway road cleanup that is done in early May had to be canceled, the club members were able to plant the corner lot and the numerous planters throughout the streets of Patton. Members of the Patton Garden Club take great pride in doing their part to beautify their town for all to enjoy.
Anyone with an interest in gardening, flowers, horticulture or joining the club is welcome to attend a meeting or call Mary Lou at 674-5293 for more information.

Recently, members delivered blankets to the Bedford County Children and Youth Services. The agency provides services to assure children their physical and emotional well-being, as provided by law, and to preserve, strengthen and empower their families.
