Jill S. McCartney of Pittsburgh, formerly of Bellwood, earned a doctorate in nursing practice specializing in a family nurse practitioner program from Robert Morris University, Moon Township, earlier this month.
McCartney is a 2007 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and earned a bachelor of science in kinesiology from Penn State University, Uni-versity Park, in 2011.
While attending Penn State and considering a career in nursing, she earned a first responder and emergency medical technician certification then attended Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, and was awarded a bachelor of science in nursing in 2012.
She completed her graduate studies while employed full time as a registered nurse at UPMC Presby-
terian Hospital, Pittsburgh, in the coronary intensive care unit.
McCartney has also held adjunct nursing faculty positions with Car-low University, Pitts-burgh, and Community College of Allegheny County, Monroeville.
She is a member of a number of professional organizations and has performed a medical mission to Nicaragua as part of her doctorate curriculum.
McCartney is the daughter of Susan Pierce of Cape Canaveral, Fla., and Perry McCartney of Bluemont, Va.
