MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – In February, Julie McKelvey, owner of 32 Miracle-Ear stores across Pennsyl-vania, including the one in Altoona, and Miracle-Ear Foundation board member, completed her third of the Seven Summits (the highest peak on each continent in the world).

McKelvey, along with former Amplifon Ameri-cas CEO Heinz Ruch, climbed Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina while raising $30,424 to support the foundation’s Gift of Sound hearing aid program.

The Miracle-Ear Foundation, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, is the philanthropic arm of Miracle-Ear and helps those who are in need of hearing aids but cannot afford them.

The program benefits underserved Americans with a limited income and no other resources for hearing aids, such as insurance, Medicaid, VA, or other state or federal programs.

The $30,424 McKelvey raised will allow hundreds of patients to receive the Gift of Sound and a lifetime of follow-up services at no cost.
