Blair Garden Club to meet Monday
Members of the Blair Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the American Legion Post 516 Social Hall on North Juniata Street in Hollidaysburg.
This meeting is the club’s 70th anniversary as a member of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania. Members will celebrate with a dinner (pre-paid). The program for the evening is “Adding More than Color to your Menu.”
Justin Delasko, a registered dietitian, will provide an overview of the health benefits of purple vegetables that have become popular.
At this meeting, members will hold the election of officers and continue to collect our yearly dues.
Patton Travel Club to meet March 31
PATTON — The Patton Travel Club will be holding its first meeting for 2020 at 7 p.m. March 31 at the Patton Public Library.
Individuals who will be joining for the first time, paying their 2020 dues or signing up for any trips can do so at 6:30 p.m. An officer will be there to assist.

Society announces Historian of the Year
BEDFORD — The Bedford County Historical Society has announced the “Historian of the Year” award for 2019.
David and Amy Snyder will be recognized for their renovation of the “Loy Mansion” and research on the history of the village of Loysburg as it relates to the patriarch Martin Loy.
They will be honored at the Annual History Banquet at 6 p.m. April 25 at the hall at Kinton’s Knob (second floor of the BCHS), 6441 Lincoln Highway, Bedford.
Dinner will be served at the event and tickets are $30 each and may be purchased from the numbers listed above.
Swinging Squares to dance Thursday
The Swinging Squares Square and Round Dance Club will hold a dance from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Jaggard United Methodist Church, 1801 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona.
Dances are on Thursday nights. Club caller is Howard Williamson, and the club cuer is Donna Williamson.
It is free to watch. Class member fee is $4. Nonmember fee is $4.50.

War veterans council sets activities
The Blair County War Veterans Council has announced its upcoming events.
The council meets at 3 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home’s Eisenhower building. Meeting dates are April 9, May 14, June 11, Sept. 10, Oct. 8 and Nov. 12. There are no meetings in July, August or December.
The Memorial Day parade will be held at 10:30 a.m. May 25, and the Veterans Day parade will be held at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 11.
Membership is open to all veterans.

Chimrocks announce dance schedule
HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Chimrock Square & Round Dance Club meets from 7 to 9 p.m. on the first and third Sunday of each month at the Masonic Hall, 1008 Edgar St.
The cost is $5 to dance. It is free to observe.
April 5 — Regular dance.
April 19 — “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”
