‘Addiction’ topic of free training

Blair Drug and Alcohol Partnerships is providing a free one-hour training for open to all community members:

“Understanding Addiction” will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Blair Drug and Alcohol Partnerships, 3001 Fairway Drive, Suite D, Altoona.

Registration is preferred by calling the Blair Drug and Alcohol Program at 381-0921.

Model train open house is Feb. 15, 16

The Alto Model Train Museum Association will host open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 15 and 16 at 1117 Ninth Ave., Altoona.

Attendees can see operating trains, a children’s play area and check out the association’s progress as it rebuilds in its new location.

There is no admission charge, although donations are welcome.

War veterans council to meet Feb. 13

The Blair County War Veterans Council will meet at 3 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home’s Eisenhower building.

Membership is open to all veterans.

Hospital offers scholarships

EVERETT — Through the generous donations of the Memorial Hospital of Bedford County Foundation, scholarships for students entering health profession are available.

Interested students should complete an application and supply supporting documents.

The deadline for application is March 31.
