Lakemont Lions collecting eyeglasses

The Lakemont Lions Club has collection bins at 30 local locations.

They include Mountain View Eye Associates, Wise Eyes, Dr. Donald Snyder, Triangle Barber Shop, Dom’s Barber Shop, Eric Batiste OD, Postal Express, Noel’s Styling Salon, America’s Best Eyeglasses, Milanak Family Vision Center, Blair County Credit Union, East End United Methodist Church, Southern Blair Senior Center, Northern Blair Senior Center, Nittany Eye Associates, Heimer Eye Care, Brent Optical, Dennis M. Hallinan Optometry, Zion Lutheran Church, Sam’s Club (Dr. Alicia Lombardo), Hollidaysburg First United Methodist Church, Dr. Michelle Barnes Optometry, UPMC Altoona main lobby, Visionworks, Laurel Eye Clinic, Presbyterian Village, Hicks United Methodist Church, Lechene Chiropractic, Barrett Vision Center, and Thompson’s Pharmacy (East Chestnut Avenue).

Swinging Squares to dance Thursday

The Swinging Squares Square and Round Dance Club will hold a dance from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Jaggard United Methodist Church, 1801 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona.

Dances are on Thursday nights. Club caller is Howard Williamson, and the club cuer is Donna Williamson.

It is free to watch. Class member fee is $4. Nonmember fee is $4.50.

Jan. 23 — Regular dance.

Jan. 30 — “Soup Night” Bring stew or soup. (Starts at 6:30 p.m.)
