Basket bingo to help Easter for Eli

Easter for Eli will hold a basket bingo fundraiser from 2 to 5 p.m. Feb. 9 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus, Father Kelley Hall, at the corner of Fifth Street and 25th Avenue, Altoona.

Easter for Eli honors the life of Elias “Eli” Garrett who died in May 2009 from non-Hodgkins Lymphoma shortly before his fourth birthday. Easter for Eli was founded by Eli’s father Martin Garrett to spread cheer to hospitalized children around Easter — his son’s favorite holiday. Since its founding, Easter for Eli has grown and last year distributed about 9,800 baskets to 41 children’s hospitals in 17 states and Canada, plus 14 Ronald McDonald houses.

For $25, participants gain admission, dinner with dessert and 15 games of basket bingo. The $60 Super Value Package additionally includes 108 door prize raffle tickets, two special games packages (six cards/five games) six tickets for the walk-around raffle and a complimentary bingo marker.

Tickets are available at Scissorhands Styling Salon, 102 58th St., across the street from Texas Hot Dogs.

Take the plunge with Penn State Altoona and raise funds to support students.
