Annual event aids library in Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG — The Martinsburg Community Library’s fifth annual Taste of the Cove event was held Oct. 19 at the Givler Cul-tural Center at Homewood, with 140 in attendance to support the library.

The event raised nearly $11,000 for library operations and featured a silent auction with more than 50 baskets, items and trips; a gift card raffle; and a quilt raffle.

The following people were recognized for their outstanding service to the community: Gerald McCuller Sr., Individual Novel Service Award; Fox’s Pizza, Business Novel Service Award; Janet Garman, Volunteer of the Year Award; Jason Dell, Love My Library Award; and Mary Nelson, Best Friend of the Year Award.

Taste of the Cove was initiated to help the library continue to operate and serve the community with free services while decreasing the annual budget deficit it incurs after expenses, including rent, are paid each year.

The library would like to thank the community and all of the corporate and business sponsors, as well as auction item donors, who made this year’s event a success.

Organizers would also like to thank acoustic duo Raining Blue and Dr. Dave Crumrine for sharing their talents throughout the evening.
