Frontier Patriots to meet Saturday

BEDFORD — The quarterly meeting of the Frontier Patriots Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will meet at noon Saturday at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House, 4308 Business 220.

The Frontier Patriots Chapter includes the counties of Bedford, Blair, Clearfield and Huntingdon.

All current chapter members are invited to attend, as well as any male who is interested in joining the Sons of the American Revolution.

Any male who can prove lineal descent from a patriot who served during the Revolutionary War, or to an ancestor who gave aid to the American colonists during the revolution, is eligible for membership.

Some purposes and goals of the Sons of the American Revolution organization are patriotic, historical and educational, including the following:

n Preserving the records of Revolutionary War Patriots.

n Marking the locations of the Revolution: its event and soldiers.

n Celebrating anniversaries of the Revolution.

Golden Nuggets to dance Thursday

The Golden Nuggets Club in Altoona will hold a dinner-dance at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bavarian Hall, Altoona.

The cost is $12 per person. Three hours of dancing will be held in the upstairs ballroom after the meal.

The club is accepting new members.

AHS Class of ’64 to meet Thursday

The Altoona High School Class of 1964 will hold its monthly luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Jethro’s, 417 Parkview Lane, Altoona.

All classmates are invited to attend.

Y-nite with Santa set for Saturday

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Blair Regional YMCA will host Family Y-nite with Santa 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The public can enjoy singing and dancing to the holiday sounds of the season, as well as decorating cookies, face painting and creating Christmas crafts.

Santa will be joining the festivities and participants can get a free family picture to take home.

Other activities include swimming and soup sampling. Admission is $5 for members or $7 for nonmembers.

AHS Class of ’60 to meet Tuesday

The Altoona High School Class of 1960 graduates meet at Perkins Restaurant for lunch and planning for the 60th reunion in 2020.

Meetings are held at noon on the first and third Tuesday of each month. The next meeting is Tuesday. All are welcome.

Train association plans open house

The Alto Model Train Museum Association will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 21 and Dec. 22 at its new location, 1117 Ninth Ave., Altoona, across the street from the Altoona Pipe and Steel Co.

The open house will continue on the third weekend of each month.

There is no admission charge, although donations are accepted.
