HAWC food drive set for this week

The Hollidaysburg Area Women’s Club will hold its 17th annual Thanksgiving food drive Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Sam’s Club and Walmart in Altoona.

Club women, assisted by family, friends and area students, will collect non-perishable food items, turkeys, hams and gift cards at both locations from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

Andrea Verobish, club president, announced the event will support more than 10 Blair County nonprofit organizations that help people in need with their Thanksgiving dinner preparations.

The Hollidaysburg Area Women’s Club is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and GFWC Pennsylvania.

This outreach project received recognition from GFWC Pennsylvania as one of the state organization’s most impressive programs of 2018.
