Book sale underway in Portage
PORTAGE — The annual Portage Station Museum Book Sale is going on now.
Hardbacks are $1 and paperbacks are 50 cents. Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
The Portage Station Museum is at 400 Lee St., Portage.
Swinging Squares to dance Thursday
The Swinging Squares Square and Round Dance Club will meet from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Jaggard United Methodist Church, 1801 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona.
The theme is “Veterans Day.” Those attending should wear red, white and blue.
Dances are on Thursdays. Club caller is Howard Williamson, and the club cuer is Donna Williamson.
It is always free to watch. Class member fee is $4. Nonmember fee is $4.50.
Nov. 21– Regular club dance.
Nov. 28 — No dance (Thanksgiving).

Chimrocks to hold dance
HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Chimrock Square & Round Dance Club will hold a dance from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Masonic Hall, 1008 Edgar St. It will be “Emil Corl Tribute Night.”
The cost is $5 to dance. It is free to observe.

Dec. 15 — Christmas party.

Candles for Kids campaign underway
Giant and Martin’s Food Store locations began their holiday Candles for Kids campaign is underway and will continue through Nov. 23. Customers can purchase a holiday candle icon for $1 or more to help support programs, services and equipment for kids at Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.
For the first time during this campaign, customers will be given the choice to donate monetarily or redeem rewards points to donate to the children’s hospital. One hundred rewards points is equal to a $1 donation.
The funds raised by this event will help to provide pediatric equipment, programs and services at Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital and pediatric facilities throughout Geisinger Health System.
