Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site, Gallitzin, 886-6150

Grand re-opening of the Summit Level Visitors Center, 1 p.m. Friday. This will take place, rain or shine, outside on the plaza. The event will include several guest speakers, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, some original songs by Ranger Greg Zaborowski and a few other surprises. After the ribbon-cutting, participants will be invited inside to view the new exhibits. Please note that the Visitor Center will remain closed Friday until after the conclusion of the ceremony. This event is free and no reservations are required.

Fort Roberdeau Historic Site and Natural Area, 383 Fort Roberdeau Road, Altoona, 946-0048

Open for tours, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission fees: $5 adults, $4 seniors, $2 children under age 12.

State parks and recreation areas that wish to be included should fax their programs to 946-7540 or email community@altoonamirror.com at least two weeks before the program dates.
