Horseshoe Seniors plan dinner-dance

Horseshoe Seniors Dinner Dance is being held one week earlier in October.

It will me held this Thursday, Oct. 10 at the Bavarian Hall, 112 S. 13th St., Altoona.

Dinner is at 5:30 p.m., followed by three hours of dancing to a DJ. Admission is $12 each. Singles and couples are welcome.

This is a fun evening for seniors, and new people are encouraged to come out and enjoy a time of friendship, entertainment and companionship with others. This dinner-dance is a monthly event usually held the third Thursday of every month.

Reservations must be made by the Monday before each event. For reservations and more information, call Don Beatty at 946-1074.

Juniata Civics to hold soup sale Nov. 5

The Juniata Civic Association held its monthly meeting on Sept. 3.

The Election Day Soup Sale was planned for Nov. 5. Four soups will be offered: Stuffed pepper, potato, chicken pastine and ham pot pie. It will be sold for $7 for a 24-ounce container.

Plans were also made for the Holiday Lantern Decorating Class that will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 12. Tickets are $50, which includes all supplies and instructions. They are available by calling 943-5641.

The next monthly meeting will be held Tuesday. A sauerkraut dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with the meeting starting at 7 p.m.

Nursing alumni to meet Tuesday

The Altoona and Mercy Hospitals Schools of Nursing Alumni Association will hold a general meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Perkins Restaurant, 3300 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona.

Members and all graduate nurses are invited to attend.

Swinging Squares to dance Thursday

Swinging Squares Square and Round Dance Club will meet from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Jaggard United Methodist Church, 1801 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona.

Club caller is Howard Williamson, and the club cuer is Donna Williamson. It is free to watch. Class member fee is $4. Nonmember fee is $4.50.
