Ellen Crocetti DeYulius of Cresson turned 100 years old June 21.

Family members in the area, as well as those from Illinois, Virginia and possibly Florida, are planning to gather this month at The Dream in Hollidaysburg to celebrate Ellen’s 100th birthday.

Ellen loves to play pinochle, enjoys baking and is still doing yard work and trimming shrubs.

Ellen was one of seven children born to Vincenza and Domenick Crocetti in Gallitzin with four of them still living active, independent lives.

Ann Crocetti Di Guiseppe, 98, of Altoona was born Dec. 30, 1920, continues to bowl in a league twice weekly and loves cooking and baking.

Mario Crocetti, 91, of Lilly, bowls, plays the accordion and has had a band for years that continues to play for special functions and organizations.

The youngest, Gilda Eggerstorfer of Altoona, is 85.

They all drive, live independently, and maintain their homes.

Deceased sisters are Edith Crocetti Pelliccioni of Gallitzin (April 8, 1918-Jan. 24, 2004) and Stella Crocetti Petta of Orland Park, Ill. (Oct. 6, 1924-Oct. 25, 2016).

Joe Crocetti was an infant when he died.

The siblings have interesting and entertaining stories of their past growing up during The Great Depression and the journeys their lives have taken them.
