Home Nursing Mercedes Moment raises money for community health needs

Margie Navarro of Duncansville held the winning number — 159 — for the Home Nursing Agency Foundation’s Mercedes Moment fundraiser held May 16.

In the 17th consecutive year, Mercedes Moment is Home Nursing Agency Foundation’s annual signature fundraising event.

Funds raised support the agency’s charitable mission of providing care and support to individuals and families in need throughout the expansive service area, including Blair County.

This year’s event culminated in Mercedes Moment Night at the Altoona Curve on May 16, where the winning number was announced following the first Pick 3 Pennsylvania lottery number at 7 p.m. As the winner, Navarro was offered the choice of the Mercedes CLA 250 4Matic Coupe or $30,000 cash prize.

Mercedes Moment 2019 raised more than $90,000 to help support individuals and families in HNA’s care who have needs beyond normal circumstances and who may need additional services not covered by insurance.

This year, the Home Nursing Agency Founda-tion has awarded $161,650 to support 30 Mission Grants. Since 2005, the Foundation has awarded 353 grants totaling $1,881,878 to help local residents served by Home Nursing Agency and Family Hospice.

In addition to ticket buyers, the Home Nursing Agency Foundation is grateful for the support of the following community partners: UPMC Altoona and UPMC Health Plan; FOREVER Media; Mer-cedes Benz of State Col-lege; Reliance Bank; For-ever Media; Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Altoona, Gazette Printers; Ravine Inc.; Sheetz Inc.; Stifel; Stuckey Automotive; The Lakemont Partnership; Altoona Curve; Clean-Service Corp.; Friend of the Foundation; Quality Services; Reilly, Creppage & Co. Inc. and Roaring Spring Water.

The foundation welcomes all private and public donations, which are tax-deductible.
