Bellwood library announces additional September activities

BELLWOOD — The Bellwood-Antis Public Library has announced additional activities for September.

n The Pennsylvania Department of Elections will demonstrate the new voting machines to be used in future elections at a special program from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the library.

n Girl Scouts of Western Pennsylvania will present a sign-up night from 6 to 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at the library for families interested in getting their children involved in Girl Scouts. n The Juniata Valley Audubon Society will resume its monthly programs Sept. 17. Evening programs are designed for a general audience and are free and open to the public. A free dinner, including shade organic coffee, starts at 6 p.m., and the program starts at 7 p.m. The menu is pizza, salad and dessert with soda, juice and hot shade-grown coffee. Coffee will also be for purchase: a one-pound bag is $12 and a two-pound bag is $22: whole bean or ground. Ron Rohrbaugh, forest program manager for Audubon Pennsylvania, will describe the work he is doing with forest landowners, forest managers and foresters to improve and create habitat for forest birds.

n At the September meeting of the Bellwood-Antis Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 23. Local historian Jared Frederick will give a talk on World War II history. This presentation is open to the public.
