Bellwood library sets activities for Sept.
BELLWOOD — The Bellwood-Antis Public Library has announced its activities for September.
n Blair Senior Services will continue presenting free Tai Chi classes for individuals age 60 and older at the library from 1 to 1:45 p.m. every Wednesday through Oct. 2. This is the second level of the class, but new members are welcome to participate. Sign up at the checkout desk or by messaging the library on Facebook.
n At the September meeting of the Bellwood Quilting Bees at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 5, the club will continue planning for the October quilt show and hold a show and tell. New members are welcome.
n At the September Lego Club from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 7, the library challenges kids ages 5 to 15 to create the job of their dreams in Lego form. Lego Club is free, and no sign-ups are required, but parents must stay in the building while children construct.
n Author Judith Redline Coopey will speak about the historical background and research that went into her new book “Don’t You Cry for Me” at a special program at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the library. Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase.
n At the September Lego Challenge Night at 6 p.m. Sept. 16, the library challenges kids ages 5 to 15 to build a wall and then design a catapult to launch projectiles over it. Lego Challenge Nights are free, and no sign-ups are needed, but parents must stay in the library while children build.
n Knitters, crocheters, weavers and other fiber artists are invited to the next Fiber Arts group meetup from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept.16. Take your own materials and project and get to know fellow fiber artists. All levels of ability and all styles of fiber art are welcome.
n Baby Sprouts Toddler Time is sprouting into two days and two times this fall: Toddler Time for families with children ages 18 months to 3 years will now be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays from Sept. 17 through Nov. 19 and 10:30 a.m. Thursdays from Sept. 19 through Nov. 21. New families are welcome, and no sign-ups are needed.
n The library will present a free Sensory Saturday Story Time especially for children ages 2 and older with autism, special needs and sensory concerns at noon Sept. 21. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Each child will receive a free book from the Central PA Autism Society for attending.
n The Bellwood-Antis Historical Society will host a free presentation by Jared Frederick on World War II at 7 p.m. Sept. 23 at the library. The public is welcome to attend.
