Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site, Gallitzin, 886-6150

Heritage Hike: Johnstown Canal Basin, 2 p.m. Sunday. This rain or shine tour is a 2-mile walking tour through the downtown area. Please wear sturdy walking shoes and take drinking water and a snack. Tour is free, but reservations are required.

“A Day in the Life: Working on the Allegheny Portage Railroad,” 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. through Sept. 29. Programs vary on a daily basis and may be moved indoors or canceled during inclement weather.

Open for tours, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Satur-day, 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Ad-mission fees: $5 adults, $4 seniors, $2 children under age 12.

What’s For Dinner? Wild Edible Plants, 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Blacksmith Shop. This program will cover plant I.D., safe and sustainable harvesting and incorporating wild plants into culinary dishes.

Path of the Flood Van Tour, 1 p.m. Saturday, free tour. Space is limited to 12 people and reservations are required.
