Bellwood Antis Library lists programs

The library lists programs for this month.

n Since they don’t meet in July due to the Independence Day holiday, at 6:30 p.m. today (June6), the Bellwood Quilting Bees will be doing a patriotic themed show and tell. Bring in your projects that commemorate Memorial Day, Independence Day, or just pay tribute to the USA. Bellwood Quilting Bees meetings are open to the public, and anyone is welcome to attend.

n A Universe of Stories is our 2019 Summer Quest Program for children ages 3 and up. Starting on Monday, sign your child up for the program and they can earn prizes for reading (or being read to) and doing other fun activities! Get their A Universe of Stories Summer Quest starter kit at the checkout desk.

n The library will present a free magic and comedy show for kids of all ages (or the young at heart) performed by Bobby Cadabra at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

n Starting on June 11 and continuing every Tuesday until July 9, at 6:30 p.m. the library will hold an Activity Nights for Kids. Children ages 3 and up and their families can join us for stories, activities and crafts, and stock up on more books for the A Uni-verse of Stories Summer Quest!

n The June Lego Challenge Night will be held at 6 p.m. June 12. We challenge kids ages 5-15 to select a random figure from the Super Ultra Deluxe Big Bag of Mystery, build something inspired by their random figure, and then use library books or the internet to learn a random fact about what they built. Lego Challenge Nights are free, and no sign-ups are needed, but we ask that parents stay in the building while children construct.

n Not quiet? Not able to sit still? Not a problem! The library will present a free Sensory Saturday Story Time especially for children ages 2 and up with Autism, special needs, and sensory concerns on June 15 at noon. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Each child will receive a free book from the Central PA Autism Society for attending.

n Knitters, crocheters, weavers and other fiber artists are invited to the next Fiber Arts group meet from 6 to 8 p.m. June 17. Bring your own materials and project and get to know your fellow fiber artists. All levels of ability and all styles of fiber art welcome!

n Summer Sprouts is our summer toddler time for children ages 18 months to 3 years. Families can join us every Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. from June 20 through Aug. 15 for stories, fingerplays and fun. There will not be a sprouts session on Thursday, July 4 as the library will be closed for Independence Day.

n The library is excited to be participating in the first Blair County Make Music Day on June 21 by offering two free concerts: at 6 p.m. Daniel Weber will treat us to his accordion versions of popular favorites from the 1920s-1960s, and at 7 p.m., Raining Blue will present their unique reinterpretations of music from the ’60s and ’70s. Come for one or both concerts!

n At the June meeting of the Bellwood-Antis Historical Society at 7 p.m. June 24, Willie Johnston will speak about her experiences working at the White House. Bellwood-Antis Historical Meetings are open to the public, and anyone is welcome to attend.

n The library is currently taking registrations for the Write Stuff, an art and cursive writing camp for Kids ages 8-12. Learn cursive writing through fun-filled, arts-based activities like cartooning, painting, and mixed media projects at the Write Stuff Arts Camp presented by local artist Annie Bickel from July 31 through Aug. 2 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. daily. The camp is free, but space is very limited. To register your child, you MUST message the library on Facebook, call us at 742-8234, or sign up at the checkout desk.
