Cambria 4-H holds youth livestock sale

EBENSBURG — On Sept. 6, Cambria County 4-H members were given the opportunity to complete their livestock projects, by marketing their animals through an auction sponsored by the Cambria County Youth Livestock Committee.

The sale began with bids on a scholarship animal, donated by Vale Wood Farms. The crowd posted $50 bids on a dairy beef animal in a 10-minute time span, which yielded $3,300 for the 4-H scholarship fund.

A total of 222 market animals were presented which included swine, steers, dairy beef, veal, chickens, rabbits, goats and lambs.

A total of $180,809 was received when the auctioneer struck his gavel for the final time.

Grand champion dairy beef: Levi Schrift of Summerhill.

Grand champion meat chickens: Lauren Itle-Szpala of Loretto.

Grand champion meat rabbits: Nicholas Clark of Cresson.

Grand champion market lamb: Michael Caretti of Patton.

Grand champion market goat: Hunter Niebauer of Carrolltown.

Grand champion veal: Griffin Christ of Sidman.
