Golf event to benefit St. Patrick School

St. Patrick School, Newry, will hold its second annual golf tournament on Oct. 6 at Iron Masters Country Club, Roaring Spring.

Registration begins at 7 a.m.

The tournament will follow a four-person scramble format with the shotgun start at 9 a.m.

Lunch and prizes will be offered upon completion of the course. Sponsorships and team entries are still available.

Contact the school at 695-3819 to enter teams, become a sponsor or make a donation.

All proceeds will benefit St. Patrick School.

Little Rock sets free October classes

ROARING SPRING — Little Rock Natural Remedies has announced its October classes.

All classes are free and begin at 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Classes are held at Little Rock Natural Remedies, 908 Spruce St., unless otherwise noted.

Oct. 1 — Ear Candling Demo at 5:30 p.m., followed by Building the Immune System.

Oct. 8 — Stress: Learning to Cope.

Oct. 9 — Stress: Learning to Cope at 6:30 p.m. at Martinsburg Community Library.

Oct. 15 — The Benefits of a Balanced pH.

Oct. 22 — The Chemical-Free Home.

Oct. 29 — Essential Oils 101.

Old Timers Baseball Club holds picnic

The Old Timers Baseball Club Picnic was held Aug. 16 at Delgrosso’s Amusement Park, Tipton.

More than 100 members and guests attended.

Following dinner, the annual Jack Sloey/John Settimio Service Award Plaque was presented to AL Lingenfelter for exceptional service to the club.

A raffle with many items also was held.

President Gary Zimmerman would like to thank the following businesses for their generosity: Altoona Blair County Development Corporation, Altoona Curve, Claysburg Pizza, Sheetz Corp., Sylvan Hills Golf Club and Ziegler Chevrolet, as well as a big thank-you to Herman Nagle for his contribution of his old timers baseball booklets each year.

The club motto of “Baseball Then Friendships Now” was on display throughout the day, as the members enjoyed the chance to reminisce with fellow players and opponents..

Next year’s picnic will be held Aug. 15.
