At the March meeting of the Blair County Health and Welfare Council, two grants were awarded to local organizations for programs that will help to enhance the health and well-being of Blair County residents.

Each year, the council awards grants to its member organizations that help to promote the mission of the council.

Member organizations must submit an application and description of their project.

This year, grants were awarded to projects for Health Opportunity Purpose Empowerment (HOPE) for its “Better Than Roses” support package, which provides support and recovery items for patients being discharged after a stay on the mental health floor; and to Blair County Children and Youth Services to provide funding for special needs items for children in foster care.
