Lions’ chicken barbecue is Saturday
The Lakemont Lions Club will hold a chicken barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or sell-out, on Oct. 9 at Greenwood Lions Park, Walton Avenue and Greenwood Road, Altoona.
Dinner includes a half chicken, baked beans, applesauce and roll.
All meals will be packaged for takeout.
Proceeds help the Lakemont Lions Club to do sight-related and other projects.
Tickets are $9 and can be purchased by contacting Joe Farretta at 518-769-1076.
Beekeepers to meet Sunday
The Cambria-Clearfield-Blair County Beekeepers will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at the Lighthouse in Altoona,
The topic will be producing value-added products from the hive.
Participants need not be a beekeeper to attend.

‘Pack the Park’ set in Patton
PATTON — The Patton Park Committee invites area residents to “Pack the Park” from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Patton Park, 101 Beach Ave.
Take your own lawn chair and enjoy live music by Stacy and the Rejects from noon to 12:30 p.m. and then Felix and the Hurricanes starting about 3 p.m. until close.
Activities include Slingers Throw House, a caricature artist, face painting and food trucks. Food vendors include Fred’s Flatbread, Cob’s Kettle Corn, Juicy Butts BBQ of PA, funnel cakes and more.
The admission cost of $10 per person benefits the park.
