Drive-thru turkey dinner planned

Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 136 Hilltop Road, Lilly, will hold a drive-tru turkey dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 18. The meal includes turkey with all the fixings, plus dessert and dinner roll. Cost is $11.

Food pantry open Tuesdays and Thursdays

The St. Vincent DePaul Assumption Chapel Food Pantry, 1523 Adams Ave., has never closed during the pandemic. We are open on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 to 10:30. All interested parties must call 814-943-7962 for an appointment. Picture identification and being masked are required.

Yard sale and chicken barbecue set

A yard sale and chicken barbecue will be held Saturday, May 1, at Hicks United Methodist Church, 1211 Third Ave., Duncansville.

The yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the pavilion. The chicken barbecue will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $10 and includes 1/2 chicken, baked beans, potato salad, roll and butter. For more information, call the church at 814-695-8529.

All proceeds benefit the 2021 Mexico mission.

Free to-go lunches offered

— The Second Avenue United Methodist Church, 130 Second Ave., Altoona, will offer a free to-go bagged lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17. Lunches will be handed out at the Second Street door while supplies last. Those attending are asked to keep a social distance while waiting in line and wear a mask if possible. All are welcome. — Providence Presbyterian Church, 2401 Broad Ave., Altoona, will hand out bagged lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 17. Lunches will include a ham and cheese sandwich, vegetable soup, a dessert and fruit. One bag lunch per person will be handed out in the church’s parking lot for drive-thru and walk-ups while supplies last. A member of the church will deliver lunches to vehicles.

Gospel Sounds Duet in concert

National Recording Artists and subjects in the book “They Came From Blair County,” Gospel Sounds Duet, featuring Steve and Apryl Caldwell, will present a free concert at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at Abundance of Grace Church, 514-516 Pine St., Hollidaysburg.

An offering will be accepted.

Food pantry open by appointment

Twenty-eighth Street Church of the Brethren Food Ministry, 2800 Union Ave., Altoona, will be open by appointment only every Friday. Call by Wednesday for a Friday appointment. For more information or to make an appointment, call the pantry at 814-207-8293.

Golf outing scheduled for June

The 16th Annual Altoona Alliance Men’s Golf Classic will be held at the Iron Masters Country Club, Roaring Spring. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., and tee times will start at 1 p.m.

Cost for the event is $75 per person or $275 for a foursome. Cost includes cart and green fee; classic golf towel, lunch, beverages and snacks on the course, and skill prizes.

Tee sponsorships are available for $200, or $400 for tee sponsorship and a foursome.

Proceeds this year will provide scholarships for Kid’s Camps 2021, and for the Youth LIFE Conference in 2022.

Deadline to register is June 11. Tournament is limited to first 25 foursomes.
