Free lunch available

Second Avenue United Methodist Church, 130 Second Ave., Altoona, will offer free to-go bagged lunches from 11:30 a.m. to

1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16. Lunches will be handed out at the Second Street door.

Those attending are asked to keep a social distance while waiting in line and wear a mask if possible. All are welcome.

Sportsmen’s Dinner planned

Beavertown God’s Missionary Church will host its annual Sportsmen’s Dinner on Jan. 23. Participants can enjoy a variety of wild game dishes and other food as well as a presentation from outdoorsman the Rev. Aaron McCarty of Blue Knob. Giveaways include a muzzleloader for youth ages 13-18.

There is no charge for the meal, but an offering will be accepted. Tickets are not required and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The doors open at 4:45 p.m. and the meal is served at 6 p.m.

First novena of the year

The first novena of the year 2021 to Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Therese offered by the Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Loretto will open on Friday, Jan. 22, and end Saturday, Jan. 30.
