Lessons on ‘Knowing God’s Will’ planned

The Juniata Church of the Brethren, North Ninth Avenue and Third Street, Juniata, will begin a series of lessons on the subject of “Knowing God’s Will for Your Life.” Each week, the class will cover topics of “Discerning the Will of God,” “Motivation to do God’s Will” and “Making God’s Will Priority Number One.”

Patriotic concert, food festival set

An outdoor patriotic concert and food festival will be held July 3 in the parking lot at Altoona Alliance Church. Proceeds will benefit faith-based ministries.

Area native and soloist Jim Worthing will be in concert at 7 p.m. Worthing, from the Bellwood/Altoona area who now lives in Nashville, Tenn., will perform a mix of patriotic songs and gospel music.

Food will be available beginning at 5 p.m. Cheesesteaks, pizza cheesesteaks, crab cakes, sausages and soda, water and chips will be available from the Precious Life food truck.

A time of prayer for the nation will be held after the concert.

Vacation Bible school scheduled

The Faith Baptist Church of Altoona will hold vacation Bible school from 6 to 8:45 p.m. Sunday, July 5, through Thursday, July 9. Classes will range from age 3 through grade 12.

Children and teens are invited to hit the trail for an “in-tents” week of “reel” fun to go “Campin’ On the Commandments!” The program is presented by the Wylers on Wheels Evangelistic Ministry and The Faith Baptist Church of Altoona.

Campin’ on the Commandments includes skits, songs, Bible dramas, awards, games and s’mores.

Transportation is available throughout Altoona.

Services to resume

First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1401 12th Ave., Altoona, will resume worship services with Holy Communion at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 27, and 10 a.m. Sunday, June 28. For more information, call 942-3816.

Fresh produce giveaway is Saturday

The Twenty-eighth Street Church of the Brethren, 2800 Union Ave., will hold a fresh produce drive-thru giveaway in the side parking lot at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27. The event will continue while supplies last.

Regathering of the church planned

Juniata United Methodist Church will hold a regathering of the church on July 5. Services are scheduled for 9, 10 and 11 a.m. and will continue at these times until further notice. All are welcome to attend. Those attending are asked to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines by wearing a mask and practicing social distancing while in the church.

Ham pot pie quarts available

Ham pot pie quarts are available for take out Saturday, June 27, at Upper Claar Church of the Brethren, Claysburg. Preordering is suggested by calling 239-5449. Takeouts will be available at 5 p.m. Cost is $5 per quart.
