Things Unseen Theatre plans virtual auditions, performance

Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, auditions and performances of “45 Plays for 45 Presidents” will be done virtually. Auditions will be accepted online from May 17-May 30.

For those auditioning, during the production you will be required to shoot footage from home under the direction of the production team.

The play makes use of a versatile ensemble cast, so specific roles will be assigned by the director after the cast is selected. If you would like to have a smaller part/cameo, please mark that on the auditioning Google Form.

Rehearsals and recording will begin in June and will continue throughout the summer, depending on the cast members’ schedules. To protect the health of the cast and crew, the show will be rehearsed and recorded remotely, with possible small group scenes if public health regulations allow.

Due to social distancing, actors who share a household and are comfortable doing physical acting and scene work together are encouraged to audition.

After the performance is recorded and compiled into a film, it will be released for pay-for-view online on Sept. 24-27.

The theater says the play is filled with unexpected turns.

“In each of these espresso shots of American history, a member of the flexible ensemble dons the star-spangled coat of the presidency and the group explores a surprising aspect of that administration.

The short plays run on a spectrum from elections to impeachments, from personal stories to political battles, and from funny to tragic.”

A link for submission is found on the organization’s Facebook page. For more information, inquiries or to request a copy of the script, please message Facebook page or Director, Matt Michrina.
