Champion Life Center, a nondenominational church located in downtown Altoona, will host a Sweetheart Gala on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. Tickets are $50 a couple and can be purchased at CentralPATickets.com or call the church office at 942-9400. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. followed by dancing. The event, which includes a catered dinner, dancing and a silent auction, will conclude at 10 p.m.
Tickets are needed in advance and must be purchased by Feb. 7.

The Juniata Church of the Brethren, 306 N. Ninth Ave., in the Juniata section of Altoona, will begin a new Bible study at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29. St. Mary Catholic Church, Mulberry and Clark streets, will host the Hollidaysburg Free Soup Program Saturday, Jan. 25. Meals include soup, sandwiches, bread, butter, desserts and beverages.
An offering will be accepted, but is not mandatory. The Free Soup Program is open to everyone.

Christian music’s Winter Jam 2020 will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at the Bryce Jordan Center, State College. Jam Nation begins at 3:30 p.m., while doors open for the PreJam party and general admission at 5 p.m.

Fan-favorite and Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Crowder will headline the show.
Performers include international chart-toppers Hillsong Young & Free, hip-hop recording artist and producer Andy Mineo; Dove Award-winning pop hitmakers Building 429; Grammy-nominated rockers RED; Dove Award-nominated singer/songwriter Austin French; Grammy-nominated Winter Jam creators and tour hosts, NewSong; and Dare2Share speakers Greg Stier and Zane Black. Additionally, the PreJam opening set will feature 2019 New Artist of the Year Dove Award-nominee Riley Clemmons and will introduce singer/songwriter and evangelist Billy Ballenger, as well as emerging rap/hip-hop recording artist Zauntee.
Motivate 2020, an evening of encouragement, will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at the Jaffa Shrine Center. The event features God’s word brought by “Truth for Life” Bible speaker Alistair Begg and worship led by Meredith Andrews. Early entry begins at
5:40 p.m. and general admission doors open at 6 p.m.
There are four ticket options: Early entry is $25; floor seating, $21; general admission, $16.50; and groups or 10 or more, $14 each. All tickets purchased at the door will be $19 and for general admission only.
The concept of Motivate is taken from Hebrews 10:24 which says “Motivate one another to acts of love and good works.” The idea is to be a gathering of the larger, collective church body in central Pennsylvania as people come together to spur one another on to acts of love.
