Messiah performance set

The Pennsylvania Consort will celebrate 32 years of presenting Handel’s Messiah at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec.14, at the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church, 1486 Quaker Valley Road, New Paris.

This long-standing traditional event, anchored by a large volunteer choir assembled from Bedford, Blair and Cambria counties, is held under the auspices of The Pennsylvania Consort.

Soloists this year are Elizabeth Shoenfelt, soprano; Bellwood native Claire DeArmitt, mezzo-soprano; Christyan Seay, tenor; and James Martin, bass.

The concert is under the direction of conductor Dr. Russ Shelley, the Elma Stine Heckler Professor of Music at Juniata College, Huntingdon.

Advance tickets are $13 for adults and $7 for students and can be purchased at the Bedford County Visitors Bureau in Bedford and Lowers Pharmacy in Everett. Tickets are also available at www.pa


Tickets for the performance will be sold at the door one hour prior to the show. Cost at the door is $15 for adults and $9 for students.

All tickets for are general admission; there is no assigned seating.
