SAMA launches 2019 annual campaign

LORETTO – The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art launched its 2019 Annual Campaign at the beginning of October.

This campaign aims to ensure everyone in the southwestern region of central Pennsylvania has access to art.

Every day, SAMA strives to support the people and communities around its five museums by addressing community issues, such as safe creative outlets for children, activities for senior citizens, and overall access to art. According to the World Economic Forum creative skills have gone from the 10th to third most important skillset for the future economy.

“The responsibility to engage younger generations at SAMA, and through art education, is not something we take lightly. It is imperative to maintain our facilities, sustain operational costs and consistently arrive to mindful decisions which further creative initiatives,” said Vanessa Houser, SAMA Executive Director.

During this campaign, SAMA hopes to raise $165,995 as a whole, with each local museum working toward an individual fundraising goal.

Charitable gifts from SAMA donors help provide access to American Art for children, adults, and families.

This allows for children to foster creative skills through summer camps; for students to cultivate art skills through our Arts-in-Education program with teaching artists; for seniors to have access to art activities in their communities; and for free access to anyone at the five museums. All of the donations stay in the communities where they are donated. When people give to SAMA, they are supporting their Museum.
