‘Shooting Heroin’ premiers Oct. 17 at the Rowland Theatre

A movie titled “Shooting Heroin” filmed in Clearfield and Centre County in the fall of 2018 is set to have several showings with a red carpet premiere held at the Rowland Theatre in Philipsburg at 7 p.m. Oct. 17. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at heroinfilm.com.

The film tells the story about the opioid epidemic, which is a crisis destroying the heart of America. One small town has had enough, and they will take justice into their own hands to eliminate heroin from its community by whatever means necessary.

Director and producer Spencer T. Folmar, a native of Clearfield County, said “I was visiting my hometown in Central Pennsyl-vania for Christmas a few years ago, when I was confronted by the devastation of the Opioid Epidemic that has struck in America. Where I was raised is not unique from many small towns and the heart of this country where illicit and deadly drug use is on the rise.”

Folmar is holding a red carpet premier at his non-profit theater The Guthrie in Grove City at 7 p.m. Oct. 25.

“I want every person to have access to see this film which I hope to be as close to reality as it gets,” he said.

Showings are also being held at The Ritz Theatre, Clearfield, at 3 p.m. Oct. 27; The State Theatre, State College, at 7 p.m. Nov 1; and the Mishler, Altoona, 7 p.m. Nov 8.
