Central Pennsylvania Bible Conference will conduct the 2019 spring session April 27-28 at The Faith Baptist Church, Fourth Avenue and 40th Street, Altoona.

Special guest is Dr. Don Wyrtzen, son of Dr. Jack Wyrtzen, founder of Word of Life Ministries, Schroon Lake, N.Y. Don Wyrtzen has traveled the world as a preacher, singer and teacher. He is known for his virtuoso playing and improvisational ability. The focus on the conference is the biblical concept of music. Sessions will be held at 1, 3 and 7 p.m. April 27 and 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. April 28.

Altoona 28th Street Church of the Brethren’s Free Soup Saturday will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The menu includes toasted cheese sandwiches, tomato soup and dessert. All are welcome.

Second Avenue United Methodist Church will serve a free soup and sandwich lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The menu includes soup, sandwich, drink and dessert. Everyone is invited. A hymn sing will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 26 at Gallitzin United Methodist Church.

The 23rd annual Treasure Trove and Bake Sale will be held at the Alexandria Presbyterian Church on April 26-27.

Ticket sales for the troves will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Drawings for the trove tickets will begin at 6:30 p.m. A bake sale will also be held both days. All proceeds benefit local missions.

The church is at 311 Shelton Ave., Alexandria, the corner of Hartslog Street and Shelton Avenue.

Second Avenue United Methodist Church’s Food Pantry will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.

Those attending should bring a photo ID, a piece of mail with your name and address, and birth certificates for any children in the home.
