Theresa and Harold Cole

Mr. and Mrs. Harold “Teeny” Cole of Indiana, Pa., formerly of Altoona, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on April 14.

They were married April 14, 1951, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Ashville. Mrs. Cole is the former Theresa Krug.

Teeny and Theresa first met as young children 86 years ago at church in Ashville. They both came from large Catholic families: Teeny was one of seven, and Theresa was one of 15 siblings. They went to school in Altoona and dated as teenagers.

The couple have four children: Cathy (Tom) Bland, Mark (Tammie), Ann and Andy (Laurie) Cole, and six grandchildren: Krista and Nick (Angela) Bland; Katie, Kyle and Connor Cole; and Nathan Beard.

Teeny started his career at the Pennsylvania Railroad and at Butcher and Hart Tool & Die Shop in Altoona. He was a maintenance supervisor at Dietrich Industries and later at Penelec generating stations where he retired in 1991.

Theresa volunteered for many years at church and is a faithful member of the Catholic Daughters organization.

They spent a life raising a family, traveling, laughing and always faithful to God. They left Altoona in 1968, leaving behind many close friends and family, and frequently return for visits.
