Virginia and George Clapper
Mr. and Mrs. George W. Clapper of James Creek celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Due to the pandemic, the family had a card shower in honor of their anniversary.
They were married Dec. 25, 1950, at the Christ Evangelical and Reformed Church in Alexandria by Rev. Charles Huyette.
Mrs. Clapper is the former Virginia Fornwalt of East Freedom.
Mrs. Clapper was formerly involved with the SmithCorner Mennonite Church.
The couple have five children: Linda Stubler and her husband, Bob, of James Creek; Bill and his wife, Linda, of Saxton; Tom and his wife, Reba, of James Creek; Mike of Hopewell; and Paula Lentz and her husband, Jim, of Duncannon.
They have seven grandchildren: Rachel Stubler, Christy Stubler, Billy Clapper, Brad Clapper, Jennifer Barnett, Malinda Miller and Ed Miller.
They also have six great-grandchildren.
Both retired from the Tussey Mountain School District. Together, they have been actively involved in the Woodcock Valley Lions Club, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Bedford and Huntingdon County Retired Teachers’ Organizations and the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, James Creek.
