‘Voices of Altoona’ set for Nov. 13

More than 100 vocalists will perform in the “Voices of Altoona” Concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in the Altoona Area High School auditorium.
The High School and Junior High School will be represented by the Altoona Area High School Vocal Ensemble and the Altoona Area Junior High Vocal Ensemble respectively.
In addition, all eight Altoona Area School District elementary schools will be represented by fourth- and fifth-grade members of the All City Chorus.
The evening will begin with a performance by the AAHS Vocal Ensemble under the direction of the new High School Choral Director Brett Keith,
singing three selections including Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence.”
The AAJHS Vocal Ensemble, under the direction of Jessica Connell, will perform three pieces including the Cyndi
Lauper classic “Time after Time.”
Shannon Carper and Beth Carpenter will direct the elementary All City Chorus as students sing a variety of selections including: “I Hope The Teacher Won’t Call on Me” and Greg Gilpin’s “Lighten-
ing.”
Finally, all 100-plus singers will combine for a heartfelt performance of “Seasons of Love,” the classic melody from the musical “Rent.”
Tickets are $4 and will be sold at the door beginning at 6 p.m.
Children 5 and younger will be admitted free.
