Acoustic Music Spotlights and Thanksgiving Eve Live Music!

Here is a listing of area live music and online music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, November 19 through Thursday, November 25.

With the arrival of Thanksgiving just days away, plenty of live music events will take place this weekend and on Wednesday night, Thanksgiving Eve. See the listing below to find out who is playing where.

Area original acoustic music will take the spotlight with two different events on Saturday evening. The ArtsAltoona Center will host “Acoustic Altoona” beginning at 7 p.m., with performances from local artists James Grove, Nik Mik and Nate Gates. Visual artwork by Daniel Albright will also be on display. Admission is $5.

And the U.S. Hotel in Hollidaysburg will host the inaugural “Lyrics in Liberty: The Singer-Songwriter Series” at the venue’s Liberty Hall starting at 8 p.m. This event will feature four area singer-songwriters – Matt Wagner, Conner Gilbert, Dylan Miller and Chet Denny – performing their song creations in a “round” format, where each musician performs a song followed by another musician, rotating in rounds through the evening. The musicians will also share insight into their song creations, and possibly even collaborate with each other on songs later in the event. Admission is $5; advance dinner reservations are recommended.

So browse the listing below, pick out an event or two (or three), and SUPPORT LIVE MUSIC as you prepare for and celebrate Thanksgiving! And if you plan on celebrating a lot, please designate a sober driver or call a taxi or Uber service to get home safely.
