More Festivals, More Fairs, More Musical Fun!

Here is a listing of area live music and online music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, July 30 through Thursday, August 5.

Fairs and festivals again loom large over the next seven days, as well as plentiful other opportunities to enjoy and support live music on area stages.

The annual Bedford County Fair wraps things up this weekend, with live music on the grandstand stage both Friday and Saturday nights.

The 160th annual Clearfield County Fair then returns on Sunday, providing live music and entertainment throughout the week. National recording acts Jackyl and The Kentucky Headhunters hit the grandstand stage on Tuesday, comedian Larry the Cable Guy stirs up the laughs on Wednesday, and country performers Russell Dickerson, Jameson Rodgers and The Hobbs Sisters performing on Saturday. Several festivals take place this weekend as well…The annual Altoona First Frontier Festival returns to downtown Altoona’s Heritage Plaza on Saturday afternoon, spotlighting area Americana, blues, bluegrass and folk performers. Food and refreshments will also be available. The music kicks off at noon; see the listing below to find out who performs throughout the event.

Festival action abounds in Johnstown as well, with the 3rd Avenue Folk & Arts Fest taking place at the Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center in Cambria City from Friday evening through Sunday. Celebrating folk art, the fest will feature art vendors and demonstrations, dancing, food, refreshments, street painting, children’s activities and live music. The Ne’er Do Wells kick off the music on Friday night; check out the listing below to see the Fests slate through the rest of the weekend.

Ebensburg Homecoming happens this weekend, with activities taking place both Friday night and Saturday. The “Downtown Shutdown” event takes place on Friday evening, with downtown Ebensburg streets closing at 6 p.m., and visitors free to stroll through downtown, browse stores and enjoy local eateries, and be entertained by the Bachelor Boys starting at 8 p.m. Ebensburg Homecoming then happens throughout the day Saturday, culminating with evening festivities at Lake Rowena, and a performance from Johnstown’s Flood City Brass beginning at 7 p.m.

Hastings Woodstock 2021 happens Saturday at Hastings Park and Pool in Hastings. This 21-and-older event will feature food and drinks, plus live music from three performing acts. The fun kicks off at 6 p.m.
