Light at the End of the Tunnel?

Here is a listing of Pennsylvania live music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, May 29 through Thursday, June 4.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19/coronavirus situation, many live music venues across the state are not able to host performances at this time. However, some bands and performers are staging online performances on social media from their own homes, studios and other facilities. Below are such situations that have been announced (that I am aware of); keep checking back, as this listing will be updated as new shows are announced. Feel free to take in any of these performances, and if a “virtual tip jar” situation is available, please consider tipping these performers, and support them during this time when they cannot earn income playing shows at public venues. Websites for these performers are also listed; please consider purchasing their music digitally or via CD, which is another way to SUPPORT LIVE MUSIC!

With Friday’s announcement that much of the region (Blair, Bedford, Cambria, Indiana, Somerset and 11 other Pennsylvania counties) will enter the green phase of the coronavirus reopening plan next Friday, June 5, the light at the end of the tunnel starts to appear for live music getting back to public stages. The process will be gradual, as venues determine how to align with protocols to permit live music to happen, such as social distancing, occupancy limits and more. But as live music makes the transition and return, this listing will continue to list both the public shows and live streams as they are scheduled.

Among this weekend’s live stream highlights, area singer and songwriter Jae Smith will perform a special live stream show on Sunday evening from 6 to 9 p.m., to raise funds for the Central PA Humane Society to help with their recovery after their facility and vehicles were badly damaged by vandalism earlier in the week. Jae will perform numbers from his just-released first solo album “Murmur,” along with select cover material.
