Sun King Warriors Back In Town This Weekend!

Here is a listing of Altoona area live music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, December 6 through Thursday, December 12.

Among the live music activities happening this weekend, Jim Donovan & the Sun King Warriors return to the area to perform at McGarvey’s on Friday night. This is an opportunity to enjoy a longer performance from the group, who played shorter sets locally earlier this year at the Altoona First Frontier Festival and the annual Patched Together benefit last month. The music begins at 9 p.m.

And Philipsburg’s historic Rowland Theatre hosts a special holiday season live music event on Sunday afternoon. “Christmas at the Rowland: Santa’s Journey” begins at 2 p.m., and will feature performances from The Rowland Capers (doing rocking Christmas season favorites), the Philipsburg-Osceola Select Choir, and the debut of Yachtsea, a new group featuring established Centre and Clearfield County musicians, who will perform smooth soft rock hits of the 1970s and 1980s. Admission to the show is $10 per person.

For outdoor shows, in the event of inclement weather, please call or use social media to check ahead to make sure the show is still taking place, especially if you are driving any distance to attend.

Check out and support the area live music! And if you celebrate heavily while doing so, please designate a sober driver or call a taxi to get you home.
