Zombietown, Bedford Fall Foliage and Apple Cider Festival This Weekend!

Here is a listing of Altoona area live music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, October 4 through Thursday, October 10.

The cavalcade of fall festivals around the area continues this weekend. The zombie apocalypse returns to downtown Altoona on Saturday with the fourth annual Zombietown USA, centered primarily along 11th Avenue and the Heritage Plaza area. Included this year will be a zombie wedding at the Heritage Plaza gazebo at 4 p.m., Altoona’s Halloween Parade at 7 p.m., food and craft vendors, kids’ activities, Penn State Altoona’s Spooktacular Science Show outside the Sheetz Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence (begins 11 a.m.), and live music throughout the day, including Alice In Chains and Prince tribute performances. See the listing below for the entire Zombietown music schedule. Admission is free.

The annual two-weekend Bedford Fall Foliage Festival kicks off on Saturday, with a multitude of arts and crafts vendors, a food court, children’s activities, and live music on three stages and strolling around downtown Bedford. See the listing below for the Fall Foliage music schedule.

And Prince Gallitzin State Park presents the annual Apple Cider Festival on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Muskrat Beach along Glendale Lake. Multiple arts and crafts vendors, live cider pressing, children’s activities and live music will take place throughout the day. Tree and Ride the Song are the musical performers this year. Admission is free. And to avoid the gridlock issues of past years, pontoon shuttles will operate from the Killbuck boat launch area, and bus shuttles will operate from the Prince Gallitzin marina area.

For outdoor shows, in the event of inclement weather, please call or use social media to check ahead to make sure the show is still taking place, especially if you are driving any distance to attend.

Check out and support the area live music! And if you celebrate heavily while doing so, please designate a sober driver or call a taxi to get you home.
