Fall Fests, Songs & Stories and Trick Or Feed This Weekend!

Here is a listing of Altoona area live music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, October 11 through Thursday, October 17.

The outdoor fall festival season appears to reach its peak this weekend, with numerous fall festivals happening throughout the region…Downtown Hollidaysburg presents its annual Pumpkinfest on Saturday along Allegheny Street, featuring a variety of food vendors (many offering pumpkin-based foods), local organizations, children’s activities, and entertainment…Downtown Bedford hosts the second and final weekend of the annual Bedford Fall Foliage Festival on Saturday and Sunday, with multiple arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, and live music on two primary stages and elsewhere…Alexandria hosts the annual Hartslog Day on Saturday, featuring plentiful arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, children’s activities and live music near Hartslog Museum…See the listings below for live music itineraries for each of these events.

And for those up for a roadtrip, more fall festivals are taking place this weekend, such as the annual Fort Ligonier Days Festival in downtown Ligonier on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, downtown Clearfield’s Fall Festival on Saturday, the annual Apple Butter Festival on Saturday and Sunday in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, and Renovo’s annual Flaming Foliage Festival on Saturday and Sunday.

Beyond the festivals, some noteworthy events are happening indoors this weekend as well. Round The Mountain Music presents the seventh installment of its “From Nashville: Songs & Stories” concert series on Friday night at the Mishler Theatre. Each concert presents three prominent Nashville-based songwriters, sharing their music “in the round” and sharing stories of their inspirations and experiences in the music world. Friday’s concert will feature songwriters Phillip White, Jenn Schott and Mark Nesler; who collectively have penned hit songs for such artists as George Strait, Luke Bryan, Vince Gill, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Pam Tillis, Restless Heart, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban and more. The concert starts at 8 p.m., and tickets are $25 and can be obtained prior to the show.

Local nu-metal rockers Hate Grenade are again organizing their annual “Trick or FEED Food Drive” event on Saturday night at McGarvey’s, to raise proceeds and collect non-perishable food goods for the Altoona Food Bank. Anyone donating non-perishable foods will be entered into a drawing to win a $100 Sheetz gift card. Bands performing at this year’s “Trick or FEED” include hosts Hate Grenade, Fyre, 2BB and Same Old Haunt. Donation at the door is $5 per person. The music begins at 9 p.m.

For outdoor shows, in the event of inclement weather, please call or use social media to check ahead to make sure the show is still taking place, especially if you are driving any distance to attend.

Check out and support the area live music! And if you celebrate heavily while doing so, please designate a sober driver or call a taxi to get you home.
