Karapalooza and the Return of Downtown Live!

Here is a listing of Altoona area live music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, May 10 through Thursday, May 16.

Among the noteworthy events happening on area stages within the next seven days are a benefit concert and the return of outdoor live music to downtown Hollidaysburg.

Local 1980s hair-band rockers Hair Force One will bring their “tour that never ends” to the Four Dees Lounge on Saturday night for a special benefit event. “Karapalooza” will raise money to help out the Kara Merritts Ebersole Metastatic Breast Cancer Fund. Kara, 39 and a mother of three, was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. The benefit will feature dinner at 6 p.m., prizes and Hair Force One’s performance starting at 9 p.m. Donation is $10 per person.

Downtown Hollidaysburg’s Downtown Live! Thursday concerts return for the 2019 season starting this Thursday with Locked & Loaded providing the music on The Diamond. Those attending are invited to bring outdoor chairs and enjoy the music, food vendors and amenities offered by downtown Hollidaysburg businesses. The free concert starts at 6 p.m.

For outdoor shows, in the event of inclement weather, please call or use social media to check ahead to make sure the show is still taking place, especially if you are driving any distance to attend.

Check out and support the area live music! And if you celebrate heavily while doing so, please designate a sober driver or call a taxi to get you home.
