Pit bull suspected in woman’s death

COLUMBIA — Police said a Maryland woman who was found dead in her backyard may have been killed by a pit bull that she adopted two weeks ago.

A Howard County police news release said a family member reported finding 64-year-old Robin Conway in her yard Monday, with her dog standing over her. The witness called 911 and tied the dog to a fence.


Architect’s Phoenix home up for $12.9M

PHOENIX — A Phoenix home that architect Frank Lloyd Wright designed for his son and was spared from demolition is up for sale.

The Arizona Republic reported Monday that the asking price for the spiral-shaped house in Phoenix’s upscale Arcadia neighborhood is $12.95 million.

Owner Zach Rawling announced in June he would donate the David and Gladys Wright House to the local architecture school established by Wright.

But the School of Architecture at Taliesin disclosed two weeks later that the donation had been called off.


Lawyer: Funeral homes not liable

MEMPHIS — A lawyer said licensed funeral homes had no responsibility to know that the Tennessee cemetery where they were sending cadavers to be interred was grossly mishandling burials even after it lost its registration.
