Man shot by Chicago police officer dies

CHICAGO — Authorities said a man has died after being shot by a Chicago police officer and a crowd gathered at the scene to protest.

Larry Merritt, a fire department spokesman, said the man was shot Saturday evening in the South Shore neighborhood and was taken to Jackson Park Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.


Police: Paralyzed man stunned dancer

DECATUR — Georgia authorities said a man paralyzed from the waist down paid an exotic dancer to perform at his home and then zip-tied her, demanded sex and shot her with a stun gun.

WSB-TV reported Friday that 31-year-old Johnnie Thompson of Decatur is charged with false imprisonment and aggravated assault.


2 missing, 4 rescued from boat collision

PORTSMOUTH — Two boaters are missing but four people have been rescued after a collision between a recreational boat and an oyster barge on Virginia’s James River.

The Coast Guard said the collision occurred Saturday morning near Portsmouth. Good Samaritans rescued four people from the water.

Rescue boats, a helicopter and a Virginia Marine Police plane have been deployed to find the two recreational boaters still missing.
