Chambers has PSU on the right track
Sunday Sports Mailbag
Penn State men’s basketball coach Pat Chambers appears to have turned the program around.
He has changed the culture of a losing program to some semblance of respectability and competitiveness in the Big Ten.
Last Saturday at the Palestra on the University of Pennsylvania campus, Chambers picked up a signature win over Michigan State University, 72-63.
As the team entered a game with Minnesota on Saturday (yesterday), I expect that progress would continue following a week off.
Keep in mind this team is basically a freshmen-dominated squad with no seniors.
Chambers has focused his recruiting on the Philly area and recruited the best class anybody can remember. The neat thing is he recruited three players from a 4A PIAA championship team along with several other players from the same area.
Playing a home game away at the Palestra was a stroke of genius on his part for recruiting exposure. Book another “home” game soon.
This program is headed in the right direction by a gentleman of outstanding integrity.
